How to apply for your child to start school for the first time:

A child can start school in September after they turn 4.

All applications for a starting school place in September 2025 must be made to your home authority. The closing date for starting school, junior and middle school applications was 15 January 2025. Applications received before the above deadline will receive an email with the outcome on 16 April 2025. 

Late applications

Applications received after 15 January 2025 and before 2 May 2025 will receive an email with the outcome on 6 June 2025.
